HOUR 1

The Elements of Art
(Ages 3-8)

​We will dive into an element of art each class, view examples of famous works of art that demonstrate that element and create art that focuses on that element. 


Creating with the Elements of Design

We will start with the basic elements of art to create fun projects with a variety of materials.


Event Planning

CLASS FULL- WAITLIST AVAILABLE

(Ages 9-18)

In this class, we will look at many aspects of event planning including proper planning for venues, budgets and expectations. In class, we’ll problem solve by “submitting group proposals” for various client needs. We’ll talk about how to avoid problems and solve problems on the fly and even interview a party pro! The class will plan an event for Tuesday, May 14th (the first Tuesday after T.H.E. Co-op Talent Show) so please plan to save this date. If you are unavailable for this date but want to take the class anyway, you are invited to do so. Some research and group planning time may be needed to be done out of class if it’s not finalized in class.


Teen Workout

(Ages 12-18)
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.             Fee: $20

Learn how to exercise at home using body weight exercises. Build good habits now that will last a lifetime.​ Workouts will be given to practice at home.

Please wear comfortable shoes and loose clothing.



HOUR 2


Musical Mayhem
(Ages 3-6)
11:05 a.m. - 12:05 p.m.          Fee: $20

General introductory music class. Students will explore basic music theory concepts through songs, chants, and movement activities.


Fun with Fairy Tales
(Ages 3-7)
11:05 a.m. - 12:05 p.m.          Fee: $ 20
Instructor: Johnetta Howard

Come join us as we read books, act out, and complete hands on activities with fairy tales! Together we will learn about the truth, goodness and beauty of fairy tales while having fun! 


Martial Arts 101
(Ages 8-18)
11:05 a.m. - 12:05 p.m.           Fee: $20
Instructor: Diego Tejada


Introduction to Martial Arts students will learn how to properly punch and kick, learn the difference between a sport and a martial art, and learn the benefits of martial arts. Techniques will be given to practice at home

More Blood and Guts

This class is based on a book of the same name and will help explore what is going on inside your body. We will conduct experiments to help you see, hear and feel what is happening inside that bag you live in called your skin. This class will focus on the basics of anatomy and physiology, with the possibility of scaling up the subject matter for older students. 

Warning: Some experiments may be considered "gross". 



Yearbook
CLASS FULL- WAITLIST AVAILABLE

This is a collaborative class where students will work together to gather and take photos, conduct interviews, write up text for the book, and consider layout and content. We will document our history as a group, and highlight individual students as well as group activities, both classes and field trips. Eventually we can market and promote the book, gather orders, and have a yearbook reveal and signing party by the summer. 


HOUR 3


Little Explorers Geography
(Ages: 3-6)
12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.           Fee: $35

Come explore basic map and globe concepts, learn about our community, and discover a few countries with us! Our youngest co-op members will complete crafts and projects after learning about these concepts together in an engaging way. 


Animal Robotics
(Ages 6-12)
12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.          Fee: $20
Instructor: Marcella Bell

Your animal lover will create his or her own animal inspired robotic models. Students will learn about gear ratio, sensors, simple machines, and programming as they build LEGO animal models. Your child is sure to have a wild time as they build, learn, and play.



Travel Extravaganza
CLASS FULL- WAITLIST AVAILABLE

(Ages 6-13)
12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.             Fee: $30
Instructor: Joanne Durrett


This class will simulate the entire travel experience from passport appointments to sampling  international cuisine at the ’local’ restaurants of the countries we visit.  (Yes, there will be some real food.)  Kids will have so much fun during this realistic adventure, they will not immediately realize how much they are learning about things like foreign exchange, budgeting and spending, geography, culture and customs, dining etiquette, travel do’s and don’ts, and foreign languages and dialects! We will experience a Trinidad & Tobago Christmas (and find out why they say “Is d best!”, try to stay dry at a Thailand Songkran, enjoy watching the International Bathtub Regatta in Belgium, or a cricket match in Pakistan…who knows where the wind will blow us? (Countries and experiences mentioned are subject to change without notice.)



Writing Without Fighting

​(Ages 12-18)
12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.       Fee: $20
Instructor: Carrie McCarty-Gibson

We will use some great techniques and a bit of silliness to become stronger writers. We will focus on descriptive writing, but the techniques learned will easily transfer to all types of writing. There is no curriculum. Students will draw upon their own descriptive powers. I will be there to aid them in drawing these descriptions from their own brains.

Be a Savvy Consumer
CLASS FULL- WAITLIST AVAILABLE

(Ages 12-18)
12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.       Fee: $25
Instructor: Miriam Snare



Students will examine their consumer decisions, especially how to decrease the influence of advertising and social media on their spending decisions. They will learn the benefits of comparison shopping and consideration of factors such as price, quality, and environmental impact. We will discuss how to protect personal information to prevent identity theft, scams, and fraud. ​
