Art Through Time Part 2

(Ages 8-14)
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.          Fee: $35

We will continue our journey of art through time as we learn about and create projects inspired by art periods through time. From the Renaissance, to Impressionism, to Cubism. 
Part 1 is NOT a prerequisite.


Yearbook
(Ages 12+)
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.             Fee: $20
Instructor: Mandy Wingate

CLASS FULL- WAITLIST AVAILABLE

This is a collaborative class where students will work together to gather and take photos, conduct interviews, write up text for the book, and consider layout and content. We will document our history as a group, and highlight individual students as well as group activities, both classes and field trips. Eventually we can market and promote the book, gather orders, and have a yearbook reveal and signing party by the summer. 


HOUR 2


Miniature Musicians
(Ages 4-7)
11:05 a.m. - 12:05 p.m.          Fee: $25
Instructor: Cara Mulloy

In this class, students will learn songs and chants as they are introduced to basic music theory concepts like movement, vocal exploration, beat, and dynamics including high/low, fast/slow, and quiet/loud.



Science Around Your World
(Ages 7-14)
11:05 a.m. - 12:05 p.m.          Fee: $30
Instructor: Miriam Snare

Explore the scientific method and problem-solving using the book series "The Acadia Files". In each session, the students will listen to a chapter from one of the books and then work on a related activity. The topics that will be covered include looking for evidence, pollution, aerodynamics, carbon footprint, food webs, and meteors. 


Mock Trial

(Ages 8-18)

The American legal system is the cornerstone of our democracy. We will utilize interactive role-playing to learn all its different parts as we take a case from investigation to prosecution.


Are You Game?
(Ages 13+)
11:05 a.m. - 12:05 p.m.           Fee: $ 20

Let's play! Who said class can be boring? Not this one! We will play board games, teambuilding games, brain games, minute to win it games, and more. We will work in teams and individually. So many games, so little time! This is a great opportunity to have fun, socialize, use our brains and work towards our goals.

 

HOUR 3


Exploring Famous Artists
(Ages: 3-7)
12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.           Fee: $ 30

We will learn about a famous artist and complete 1-2 art projects in each class.


LEGO STEM Challenge

​(Ages 8-12)
12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.       Fee: $ 25

In this class, students will be challenged to design and create with LEGOs using creative thinking, reasoning, and problem solving skills.  After their designs are put to the test, we will discuss what worked, what didn't, and possible solutions.  


Psychology for Kids
(Ages 8-14)
12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.       Fee: $ 25
Instructor: Becky McCracken

This is a fun and easy introduction to the science of the mind and behavior. This class will give a general overview of what psychology is and more importantly find ways to apply principles to help us in real life. Each class will include an experiment related to each discussion.



Mind Your Own Business

(Ages 12+)
12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.             Fee: $25
Instructor: Joanne Durrett

CLASS FULL- WAITLIST AVAILABLE
Do you have a budding entrepreneur? Are you familiar with the pop-up business model? In this class, patterned after the Junior Achievement business program, students will plan, launch, operate and close a collective, one-shot business venture within a structured, guided experience. Any profits generated will be donated to a community organization chosen by the class. This will be an intense, but fun, learning experience. There is likely to be work outside of the co-op hour depending on the student's role in the company.
