Elections in Action – Apples vs. Oranges
(6th-8th)

With the Presidential election just a few months away, students will dissect the electoral process with hands-on demonstrations and activities. In this class, the candidates running for office are Mr. Apple and Ms. Orange. Campaigning, debating, polling and voting will be some of the topics covered in this fun, interactive class.
The Crafty Art Class
(5th-8th)

Children will learn to complete crafts with yarn, glue, paint and other various materials.
Students may choose to bring a paint shirt/apron to class.

(2nd - 6th)

Instructor: Shelley Langmead
For this art class, we will focus on a few famous artists and create a piece of art influenced by the artist's methods or ideas. This semester we will be creating Comic Book Pop Art like Roy Lichtenstein, making our own Eames Tower of Cards, creating aboriginal bark paintings in the style of Johnny Bulunbulun, creating a masterpiece in the style of Michelangelo and more!
Students must be able to work independently and follow directions. Some projects will be multi - step and of increasing difficulty.
Around the World
(Pre-K-6th)

Join us as we travel around the globe to explore each of the continents! Class will focus on geography and culture as children are exposed to maps, music, language, landmarks, art, architecture, food, and facts about each of the 7 continents.
This class will be taught in a Montessori style.
Thinking Outside the Box - FULL (wait list available)

Exercise your mental muscles by thinking outside the box! Think smarter. Look for solutions. Analyze information. Draw conclusions. Students will develop their own thinking process & become more successful, active learners as they utilize critical & creative thinking skills through games, discussions & hands on projects.
What's Bugging You?
(Pre-K-2nd)

In this crafty class, children will dive into the world of the creepy crawly when they are introduced to a different bug each week. We will read a story about the bug and complete a fun, goofy craft.
Things That Work: Hands on Workshop
(5th-8th)
10:00am-11:00am Fee: $25
Instructor: Kristen Mumaw
How does it work? Will it move? Can I make it myself? These are all questions we will work on as we create simple circuits, motors and machines. Students will be provided the materials, and instructions to create a working device. They will brainstorm, problem solve and work together to get their devices functional in this project based learning workshop. (Please note: We will use tools such as wire cutters and we will be working with items such as magnets, batteries and wires.)
Students may be asked to bring in items, such as wire cutters, if they have them so we have multiple items to use in class. Nothing will be required.
Magic Tree House Adventures
(2nd-6th)

Students will go on an adventure with the Magic Tree House! As we travel with Jack & Annie, we will discuss narrative elements, figurative language, vocabulary & context clues, character traits, complete projects & more. Students will be required to read or have read to them, one book per month at home. We will read books #49-Stallion by Starlight, #50 – Hurry Up, Houdini! And #51- High Time for Heroes.
Science Fun: A Hands on Lab - FULL (wait list available)

Several different branches of science will be examined through many hands-on experiments and projects. Children will learn how to inspect, question and test their scientific theories in a fun environment. Experiments and demonstrations will inspire students to explore the world around them. Topics will include: Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, Biology and Geology
