In this hands-on field trip, students will discover their connection to the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, engaging in interactive watershed models, completing experiments, and getting up close and personal with some of the amazing creatures that are vital to the health of the Chesapeake Bay Ecosystem. The program will happen on shore, close-toed shoes are required and students should dress appropriately for the weather in something comfortable that they won’t mind if it gets a little dirty. Students should also plan to bring a water bottle and a packed lunch. ​Come experience the educational history of the Natives who once lived in this area.  Children will be divided into two groups by age on date of field trip - no exceptions, please. Group 1: 5- to 11-year-olds Group 2: 12- to 17-year-olds. Groups will rotate in the museum for tours, peeking in the gift shop, as well as outside activities, and a trail to the waterfall. Dissection Workshop - Instructor Bill Trautman will share his expertise and his tools and has secured us classroom space for the workshops at his church.  (week 1 frog and all systems, week 2 animal organs) Ages 11-18 at date of first workshop - no exceptions, please. Kids will work together and sensitivity is considered by the instructor towards those squeamish at this idea.  Younger siblings should not be in attendance of the dissection workshop. 


Picnic lunch at the parking lot tailgate style - pack out all trash! 12:00-12:30


Wildlife Biology Workshop - life study animal class with exposure to living critters. Ages 6-12 at date of first session - no exceptions, please. 12:30-1:30 (Children should be ready a few minutes before 12:30.) Parents are welcome and encouraged to stay in attendance for either of his classes.
